About

The Gathering Place Bistro

Braemar

A FEW WORDS ABOUT US

The Restaurant is in Braemar on Royal Deeside at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.

We are situated in Auld Bank House which was built around 1860 as the village bank, a purpose which part of the building still serves. The building is an important part of the village's social and economic history. The basement was formerly used as the local butcher's shop and was converted into a restaurant in 2002.

Cobbles found during the conversion suggest that there may also have been an equestrian use for the cellar in years gone by

Our menu contains a range of local food including our homemade  Venison Casserole as well as Steaks, Burgers, and traditional favourites.

TRADITIONAL RECIPES

As an example, our Balmoral Chicken is prepared on the premises using the finest Scottish chicken fillets stuffed with Haggis cooked by our local butcher and wrapped in bacon. It is slowly poached before being finished under the grill and served with our Whisky and coarse mustard sauce.

FOOD IS OUR PASSION

Wherever possible our ingredients are locally sourced. Our fresh meat is supplied by Neil Menzie, our local butcher, most of our fish is supplied by Ochil Foods in Perthshire and we use other local suppliers to ensure taste and quality and to keep "food miles" to a minimum

MALT

WHISKY

We have an ever changing range of Single Malt Whisky. Whatever your taste, we will have one to satisfy both the novice and the connoisseur alike.
